40 Days of Prayer Brings Transformation

Thousands of years have passed, and the number 40 has yet proven to be significant in the life of God’s people. Christians all over the world are yet being transformed by 40 days of intense prayer and bible study, as suggested by author and Pastor Rick Warren. Warren has stated “The Bible is clear that God considers 40 days a spiritually significant time period. Whenever God wanted to prepare someone for his purposes, he took 40 days:

Ø      Noah’s life was transformed by 40 days of rain.

Ø      Moses was transformed by 40 days on Mount Sinai

Ø      The spies were transformed by 40 days in the Promised Land.

Ø      David was transformed by Goliath’s 40-day challenge.

Ø      Elijah was transformed when God gave him 40 days of strength from a single meal.

Ø      The entire city of Nineveh   was transformed when God gave the people 40 days to change.

Ø      Jesus was empowered by 40 days in the wilderness.

Ø      The disciples were transformed by 40 days with Jesus after his resurrection.

The 2006 General Conference of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church is fast approaching, and God has positioned the Saints to come with expectancy, not in ourselves, but in Him. The position is a position of prayer and desperation for his power and his presence.  Please join this connectional 40 days of prayer vigil-road to General conference 2006. No, it’s not about the number 40 or lofty words of prayer, it’s about accessing the presence of God where we, God’s covenant people, find everything necessary for life.

“If you will build an altar, I will come!” God’s urgent call, even a promise.

In the days in which we live there is no other way to come except by prayer and supplication. It will ensure that every resolution, election, rule, and regulation will have transforming power to propel God’s covenant people into a world that’s waiting to be transformed. God has proven over and again in scripture, when man builds an altar to Him, He will come. When He comes nothing remains the same.

It does not end with 40 days. Prayer is continual and intentional.  After the 40 days of prayer, 120 prayers will pray, rotating, throughout the General conference in the “Upper Room” Prayer Room. The first disciples in Acts knew they needed God’s power, and we need God’s power just as much. When God’s presence was manifested new power came from an intimate encounter with God. As 120 prayers maintain a vigil of prayer for 10 days we shall encounter His fire upon our lives and churches.
