We are saddened by the passing of Mrs. Catherine Jewell Gill, a Christian servant, faithful missionary and loyal CME.  Mrs. Gill was the Secretary of the Spiritual Life and Message Department of the Women's Missionary Council of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.  She was a faithful member and leader at Miles Chapel CME Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Dear CME Members, Missionaries and Friends:
Greetings in the Name of Jesus Christ! 
The Women's Missionary Council of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church honors the legacy of Dr. Dorothy I. Height, the chair and president emerita of the National Council of Negro Women, and her many contributions to the civil rights movement. 
 
Dr. Height was a woman of great dignity and a leader of an "organization of organizations." The Women's Missionary Council of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church is an Affiliate Organization of the National Council of Negro Women. 
 
We mourn the passing of Dr. Height who was such an outstanding woman of God. Dr. Height served as a moral conscience for this nation speaking for those who had no voice. She shall be greatly missed!

Funeral services for Dr. Height will take place in Washington, D.C. beginning Tuesday, April 28, 2010 and
end with funeral services at Washington National Cathedral on Thursday, April 29, 2010, according to former U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexis Herman, who is overseeing the arrangements. Burial services will be held at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Maryland. The schedule of services is below.
Tuesday, April 27
6:00 – 10:00 p.m. — Dr. Height will lie in repose at the National Council Negro Women Dorothy I. Height
building for a public viewing.
 
Wednesday, April 28
2:00 p.m. — The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will conduct a public Omega Omega Service at Howard University. Dr. Height served as national president of the sorority in 1947.
 
7:00 p.m. — A “Community Celebration of Life” memorial will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. The memorial is open to the public.
 
Thursday, April 29
10:00 a.m. — A funeral service will be conducted at Washington National Cathedral and is open to the public. The burial service will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Maryland.

We are saddened regarding the loss of Rev. Jerome B. Price, Sr., the pastor of Carter Metropolitan Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Fort Worth, Texas, in the Eighth Episcopal District, husband of Mrs. Pamela Price, and father of Jerome B. Price, Jr. and Aaron J. Price.
 
Reverend Price served as pastor for thirty years in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. He served faithfully the following churches: 1979 - 1982 Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Gainesville, Georgia Elberton District, Georgia Annual Conference; 1982 - 1984 Saint James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Columbus, Georgia Cordele District, Southwest Georgia Annual Conference; 1984 - 1994 West Side Community Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Atlanta, Georgia - Atlanta District, Georgia Annual Conference; 1994 - 2006 Saint Paul Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Chicago, Illinois Chicago District - Southeast Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin Annual Conference; and 2006 - present Carter Metropolitan Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Fort Worth, Texas Dallas-Forth, Worth Annual Conference.

Following the funeral service, family and friends will proceed to Macon, Georgia for the burial and repast.
 
The burial for Reverend Jerome B. Price, Sr. will be at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery, 2025 Woodlawn Drive, Macon, Georgia 31211.
 
Following the burial, the family will then have a repast and receive friends at Holsey Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 1011 Washington Avenue, Macon, GA 31201.

  • We are saddened by the passing of Mrs. Wardner Polk, a Christian servant, faithful missionary and loyal CME.  Mrs. Polk was the Secretary of Hunger and Meals for Millions of the Women's Missionary Council of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and archivist for the Missionary room at the CME Headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee where she also served as a receptionist, and a devout member of Greenwood CME Church in Memphis. 
  • The Homegoing services for Mrs. Polk will be held tomorrow (Saturday, February 6, 2010) at 10:00 a.m. at Greenwood CME Church, 3311 Kimball Avenue, Memphis, TN   38311.  The Viewing will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m.  The Rev.     Homegoing Memorial Services for Mrs. Belva Nelson


    Norfolk, Virginia – January 26, 2010 - Mrs. Belva Nelson, a member of
    St. Paul C.M.E. Church, Norfolk, VA passed away Thursday, January 21,
    2010.  She was a faithful member of St. Paul, serving as past Chair of
    the Board of Stewards, Church Conference Secretary, Quarterly
    Conference Secretary, and member of the following ministries - Lay
    Council, Missionary Society, and Board of Christian Education.  She was
    actively involved on the Washington-Virginia District, serving as past
    registrar of the Washington-Virginia District Leadership Training
    School and member of the Lay Council, Missionary Society, and Board of
    Christian Education.  Mrs. Nelson was a leader in the New York –
    Washington Region, serving as secretary of the Missionary Society,
    member of the Lay Council, and as a member of the Board of Christian
    Education.  She was elected as a delegate to the Women’s Missionary
    Quadrennial Assembly.

    The Homegoing Memorial Services for Mrs. Belva Nelson has been set for
    Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11 AM, and will be held at St. Paul
    C.M.E. Church, 310 East Virginia Beach Boulevard, Norfolk, Virginia,
    with the pastor, Reverend John A. Dillard III, officiating.
