TO:  The Laity, Pastors, and Presiding Elders

I trust that you are doing well and that the joy of the Lord continues to provide hope and purpose in your lives each and everyday.

I want to first thank the delegates of the 2010 General Conference for electing me as your General Secretary of Lay Ministry.  To those who were not delegates but provided encouragement and support, I am sincerely appreciative and eternally grateful.  As Lay Leader for the Church, I am looking forward to working with everyone

Over the past week, through our web master Ms. Theresa Duhart, I have made updates to the Lay Ministry web page, available at: http://www.c-m-e.org/core/layministry.htmAdditional updates, changes, and adjustments will be forthcoming.  Please notice that the Lay Ministry Order Form has been revised and in response to many of your inquires and request, the Helping Hands Bulletins and Programs of Study series will continue.

I have been in communication with, Bishop Teresa Snorton, who is excited and pleased about her role as our Department Chair.  Let us continue to be prayerful as she and her new colleagues move forward in executing their charge and fulfilling their assignments.

As I communicate and interface with the Connectional Presidents (Campbell, Winton, Dugger, and Taylor) in reference to their roles and plans for the work ahead, please share your thoughts and concerns with us.  We will be working together along with you, to provide and insure connectivity in our Zion from the top down and the bottom up.

As I close, please be diligent in your prayers for Mrs. Faye McGhee, who was hospitalized and underwent emergency surgery during the General Conference in Mobile, AL.  Faye is the Regional Lay Leader of the New York-Washington Region and was a delegate to General Conference.  As of this writing, she is still hospitalized in the Mobile Infirmary Medical Center.  I will provide updates as I receive them.

May the joy of the Lord continue to be yours!

Sincerely & In Christ I trust,

Clifford L. Harris
